Sales Coordinator

Description
Act as the supportive sales liaison for First Trust Portfolios Canada. The role of this individual is to contribute to the achievement of the Sales Team’s goals by managing and executing administrative, client service, and support functions.

Position Reports to: V.P. Sales

Responsibilities

Provide the Sales Team with administrative support.

  • Book and confirm Wholesaler meetings.
  • Review monthly budget numbers.
  • Coordinate distribution of information (sales material, fax reports, and mailings).
  • Coordinate special regional and branch events.
  • Prepare reports (e.g. activity and expenses).
  • Gather and disseminate basic information for Sales Teams (co-op., meeting expenses, etc).

Client Servicing

  • Provide excellent customer service in a pro-active, professional and friendly manner
  • Build and maintain long term client relationships.
  • Assist in the implementation of practice development activities.
  • Assist with other projects as assigned.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 year of experience as an assistant or related administrative experience.
  • Experience in Structured Products (Closed End Funds) Mutual Fund business or brokerage/financial planning industry as a broker's assistant or in an administrative role.
  • Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Desire to take initiative, and work independently in support of team goals.
  • Interest in and knowledge of the investment industry.
  • IFIC and/or CSC and Registered Representative designations or enrolment.
  • Excellent knowledge of Word, Excel.
  • Working knowledge of PowerPoint an asset.
  • Knowledge of Contact and Activity Management an asset.
  • Ability to manage many tasks at the same time.
  • Proactively assist the Sales Teams in their respective regions.
  • CSC or IFIC is an asset.

Inside Sales Associate

Description
Act as the supportive sales liaison for First Trust Portfolios Canada wholesalers to develop relationships and increase product penetration in a given territory with Investment Advisors, Financial Planners and other mutual fund sales licensed Advisors.

Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with wholesalers to enhance existing and build new relationships with advisors and planners from IIROC and MFDA dealer channels.
  • Increase total assets under management within a given territory.
  • Develop and promote awareness of the unique proposition that First Trust Portfolios Canada brings to the marketplace.
  • Handle proactive outbound calling to set up appointments, provide updates on product and share sales ideas.
  • Handle reactive inbound calling to answer questions, concerns and requests regarding individual First Trust Portfolios Canada, client accounts and marketing information.
  • Segmenting client base within defined sales territory.
  • Maintain contact management records .
  • Prepare information and marketing kits for all sales activities.
  • Apply outstanding communication, time management and territory management skills to maximize effectiveness.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • University degree plus CSC/IFIC preferred.
  • 1-3 years of sales/marketing/call centre experience in the financial services industry
  • Knowledge of investment products (mutual funds, stocks, bonds) and an understanding of financial markets and investment marketplace.
  • Strong relationship building and interpersonal skills together with strong listening skills
  • Proven ability to take initiative, be a strong self-starter and display professionalism
  • Solid organizational and time management skills with strong client service approach.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and CRM tools.

Mutual Fund Wholesaler

Description
As a wholesaler for First Trust Portfolios Canada, the objective is to develop relationships; prospect and service a given territory of Investment Advisors, Financial Planners and other mutual fund sales licensed Advisors.

Responsibilities

  • Increase total asset base of First Trust Portfolios within a given territory.
  • Develop and promote awareness of the unique proposition that First Trust Portfolios brings to the marketplace.
  • Develop and maintain advisor/planner relationships primarily by regular contact with them in one-on-one meetings and branch presentations, and, to a lesser extent, via telephone, mail, e-mail, and conference calls.
  • Target top advisor/planners and their branches to create awareness of First Trust Portfolios.
  • Apply outstanding communication, time management and territory management skills to maximize effectiveness.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the First Trust Portfolios product line-up and North-American business profile.
  • Work with senior First Trust management team to create sales territory plan detailing strategy to identify and develop top sales opportunities.
  • Maintain and update sales activity and sales progress information in company CRM system.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • University degree plus CSC/IFIC.
  • Financial services industry experience of greater than 3+ years in a sales or business development capacity.
  • Strong sales focus and ability to independently develop and grow new sales relationships.
  • Strong understanding of investment advisor business practices.
  • Confident in public speaking and the ability to assertively answer questions.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and CRM tools.
  • An understanding of relevant investment advisor compliance legislation.
